My twitter experience has been interesting so far. I am really enjoying having to post on twitter for this class and also using it to learn more about education and technology uses within the classroom. I find it most beneficial to follow people who are tweeting about education and technology to not only see what they are doing within their classroom and the how they are using it but to also learn about education and technology and what I can do to better my usage of technology so that my students can benefit more from the way that I am teaching. Twitter has a lot of benefits and I feel as though it is an easy way to create a personal network with individuals that you wish to follow so that you can stay in the know when they are tweeting important and relevant information about education and their uses of technology within in
Creating a class website was defiantly a challenge within itself, but it was a fun challenge because i was able to explore and find things that I liked and wanted to include so that my "classroom" could benefit the most. I struggled with incorporating a google calendar into it and also trying to figure out the most effective way to include academic websites for my students to use. Once I came up with a way this would benefit my students and their parents I didn't have any trouble doing anything else. I have made websites before using wix so it wasn't too difficult for me to navigate and include certain aspects. I also found that it was kind of hard to pretend that I actually had a class to create this website for. I found that I was just making random things up which may make my website now not look as official but I overall think this was a very beneficial assignment. I plan to have a class website where I can house classwork and homework assignments, academic websites that we use in the classroom and some that my students can use at home to further their learning, supply lists where parents can find exactly what their student needs, lesson plans, a calendar with the most up to date information so that if a student misses class their parent can see if we did anything and remind their student to go to school and make up their work, and finally a blog. I want to include a blog so that I can send out reminders to parents through the blog to ensure that they have the most up to date information and so that they get the announcements that I am telling students in class that may fall through the cracks on the way home. I hope that this allows for a Diilot of communication to be happening between parents and myself. I also will allow comments on the blog so that parents can directly interact with me and comment if they have any questions and also talk to other parents about the information. Diigo has caused me to want to annotate articles more often and more thorough. With diigo I have found that I am understanding what I am reading at a different level which has caused me to grasp concepts that are difficult in a different way. I would love to incorporate this with the team that I could work with in the future to share articles with each other so that we all can continue to learn and grow together so that we can best serve our students and their needs. I also feel that when an informational article is found it is beneficial to everyone to share it so that this information can be spread so that everyone continues to learn and can be a better teacher to our students who are apart of a society that is changing drastically each and everyday.
