The ELA standards are very straight forward and provide an array of topics that should be taught in each grade level. I feel as though the topics that are supposed to be taught on the lower end of grade levels, I have a better understanding right now and would be able to do most of them. The topics that are listed within the upper grade levels, middle and high school, would cause me a little bit more of a problem teaching them because I don't have as good of an understanding of the more complex topics.    I hope to be teaching in a kindergarten, first, or second grade classroom one day which my students ages will be either 5,6,7,or 8. With this i hope to use lexia (a website that works on reading and writing), the Microsoft offices, and spelling city (a website used for spelling words that allows students to work on their typing and spelling). I feel as though these three technological applications can really aid my teaching to my students and allow them to learn more...

As a student I have used Microsoft word in a variety of ways. I have used it most often to write papers, but it also has served more purposes than that to me. I have used it to create resume's, calendars, and flyers. Microsoft word is one part of Microsoft Office that I feel like I have a good enough understanding to do many different things with. Specifically, I have seen my teachers use it to take notes on in front of the class and review something we have learned. I have seen them use it to create newsletters to go home to parents. I have even seen it in a pre-school setting where out teacher had us use it to create lesson plans and other things that were used in the pre-school to make it run efficiently and for us to be able to communicate with parents. Microsoft word has proven to be one of the most useful Office's that I have used growing up. Now they make Google docs which is similar but allows you and others to work on the same document at the same time w...

Students and teachers are faced with many influences when it comes to using different types of technology within the classroom. Teachers specifically are faced with different types of learners that have different backgrounds and learning abilities that can affect the type of technology that they use in the classroom to aid the students in their learning. Due to the diversity found within the classroom, not every student has access to technology outside of the classroom so they are faced with their own issues when it comes to finding access to more help that can be provided through an assigned website by the teacher. All of these factors influence the degree in which technology can be incorporated into the classrooms teachings.    A standard that is meaningful to me is included within the Teacher standards. The standard is to Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. This standard explains that a teacher should use their knowledge to incorporate technolog...

My prior experiences with technology are very limited. I never really got into using any other programs besides the ones that are accompanied with the Microsoft office software. I only ever became familiar with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. I don't have much a of a background in technology but I'm hoping that this class is able to open up my experiences and give me some new information about all of the technology out there that is accessible to me.       I hope to learn some necessary tools in this class so that I can be successful in my own classroom one day. This will hopefully allow me to use technology within the classroom to help convey messages and lessons so that my students are learning the correct material in a fun and interesting way. I hope to see all of the different types of technology that can be used within a classroom and the ways that it will enhance my teaching and my students learning.
